गजपतिः

The lord of all elephants; the divine sovereign of the great elephant-clan whose own elephant form makes him the supreme member and master of the most majestic of all earthly creatures

समस्त हाथियों के स्वामी; महान हाथी-कुल के दिव्य सम्राट जिनका स्वयं का हाथी-स्वरूप उन्हें सभी पार्थिव प्राणियों में सबसे राजसी के सर्वोच्च सदस्य और स्वामी बनाता है

केरल, तमिलनाडु और कर्नाटक के मन्दिरी हाथी गणेश की कृपा के अवतार माने जाते हैं; उनके महावत स्नान, भोजन और शोभायात्राओं के लिए उन्हें सजाने से पहले इस नाम का जाप करते हैं।
