Etymology · व्युत्पत्ति
From 'līlā' (लीला, divine play/sport) + 'mānuṣa' (मानुष, human) + 'vigraha' (विग्रह, form/embodiment) — He whose human form itself is divine play. Not 'God pretending to be human' but 'the form of play wearing the costume of a person.' The Brahma Samhita (5.33) uses this exact compound.
अर्थ
यह नाम उस समस्या को हल करता है जिसने सदियों से धर्मशास्त्र को परेशान किया है: क्या भगवान गंभीर हैं या खिलंदड़? कृष्ण का जवाब: सवाल ही ग़लत है। कोई फ़र्क़ नहीं है। ब्रह्मांड कोई प्रोजेक्ट नहीं जिसमें KPIs और deadlines हों। यह एक खेल है — लीला — और खिलाड़ी खेल और उसके उद्देश्य में भेद नहीं करता क्योंकि खेल ही उद्देश्य है। जब कृष्ण माखन चुराते हैं, वे 'शरारत के भेस में आध्यात्मिक पाठ' नहीं दे रहे। वे शरारत कर रहे हैं, और शरारत ख़ुद आध्यात्मिक पाठ है। कोई backstage नहीं जहाँ असली अर्थ छुपा हो। front stage — दौड़ना, हँसना, माखन-लिपटा चेहरा — वही पूरा सत्य है। लीलामानुषविग्रह कहता है: सतह के पीछे गहरा अर्थ खोजना बंद करो। सतह ही गहराई है। खेल ही मतलब है।

ब्रह्म संहिता (अध्याय 5, श्लोक 33) में ब्रह्मा — कृष्ण की वृंदावन लीला देखकर — एक स्तुति रचते हैं: 'मैं गोविंद की उपासना करता हूँ, आदि प्रभु, जो मनुष्य रूप में दिव्य खेल के रूप में प्रकट होते हैं।' यह श्लोक क्रांतिकारी है क्योंकि सामान्य अवतार तर्क उलट देता है। आम तौर पर कहते हैं: भगवान किसी ब्रह्मांडीय उद्देश्य के लिए मानव रूप धारते हैं। ब्रह्म संहिता कहती है: नहीं। खेल उनका स्वभाव है, और मानव होना सबसे खिलंदड़ चीज़ है जो वे कर सकते हैं। ब्रह्मांडीय उद्देश्य — राक्षस वध, धर्म स्थापना — खेल के दुष्प्रभाव हैं, कारण नहीं। भागवत के स्कंध 10 में शुकदेव स्पष्ट करते हैं: वृंदावन की गतिविधियों में राक्षस वध शायद 10% है। बाक़ी 90%: माखन चोरी, बाँसुरी, गौचारण, शरारतें, हँसी। खेल wrapping paper नहीं है। खेल ही तोहफ़ा है।

तुम Pune में software developer हो, अट्ठाईस के, और तीन सालों से 'life optimize' कर रहे हो। Pomodoro timers। Cold showers। Gratitude journals जिसमें रोज़ exactly तीन entries। Nightstand पर Atomic Habits। Calendar self-improvement का spreadsheet है। और यह तुम्हें मार रहा है। नाटकीय तरीके से नहीं — चुपचाप, जैसे कोई पौधा productivity से ज़रूरत से ज़्यादा सींचा जाए। एक Sunday, छह साल की भतीजी आती है। कहती है dinosaur बनाओ। तुम कहते हो busy हो। वो पूछती है 'क्यों?' जवाब नहीं है। वो crayon पकड़ा देती है। तुम इतिहास का सबसे बुरा dinosaur बनाते हो — टेढ़ा, ग़लत रंग, चार की जगह तीन टाँगें। वो इतना हँसती है कि सोफ़े से गिर जाती है। और उस हँसी में, तुम्हारी optimized, scheduled, KPI-driven छाती में कुछ खुलता है। तुम भूल गए थे कि ज़िंदगी प्रोजेक्ट नहीं है। लीला है। वो dinosaur तुम्हारे वक़्त का productive use नहीं। तुम्हारे वक़्त का मतलब है। लीलामानुषविग्रह फुसफुसाता है: तुम्हारा spreadsheet माया है। तीन टाँगों वाला dinosaur सत्य है।

Do not sit for this meditation — move. Stand up. Put on music you loved as a child. Dance badly. Intentionally badly. Wave your arms. Spin. If you feel foolish, good — that feeling is the wall between you and lila. Dance through it for 5 minutes. When the music stops, stand still. Notice: your breath is faster, your face is warm, and something inside you is grinning — not smiling, grinning. That grin is your lila body, the one underneath the optimized one. Sit down and breathe with that grin for 3 minutes.
Mantra Practice · मंत्र जप
Chant 108 times while doing something playful — swinging on a swing, walking barefoot on grass, drawing with crayons. The mantra should not be solemn. It should carry the energy of a child who has just discovered puddles. Use a tulsi mala worn around the neck, hands free. Best on Sundays or any day you have been taking yourself too seriously.
