शमः

The supreme tranquillity, the peace that stills all agitation

परम शान्ति, जो सब उत्तेजनाओं को शान्त करते हैं

वेदान्त में 'शम' षट्सम्पत्ति (छह गुणों) में पहला है: शम, दम, उपरति, तितिक्षा, श्रद्धा, समाधान। शम का अर्थ है मन का शान्त होना। आज की भागदौड़ में meditation apps, mindfulness courses, और wellness retreats सब 'शम' (शान्ति) बेच रहे हैं। लेकिन शम भगवान स्वयं वो शान्ति हैं जो किसी ऐप में नहीं मिलती। शाम को जब मन्दिर की घंटी बजती है और आरती शुरू होती है, वो शम का क्षण है।
