Bhuvaneshwari Ashtakam
भुवनेश्वरी अष्टकम्
The Bhuvaneshwari Ashtakam is a traditional eight-verse Sanskrit hymn to Maa Bhuvaneshwari, the wish-fulfilling tree for her devotees who dwells on the bank of the Krishna river, praised as giver of siddhi, fearlessness, and liberation, embodiment of Vishnu, inner controller of all beings, and the very means of crossing the ocean of worldly existence, closing with a garland of victory-cries to Ambika.
भुवनेश्वरी अष्टकम् माँ भुवनेश्वरी की परंपरागत आठ श्लोकों वाली संस्कृत स्तुति है, जिन्हें कृष्णा नदी के तट पर निवास करने वाली, भक्तों की कल्पवृक्ष, सिद्धि-अभय-मुक्ति की दात्री, विष्णुस्वरूपा, सभी प्राणियों की अंतर्यामिनी और संसार-सागर से पार उतारने के साक्षात् उपाय के रूप में वंदित किया गया है; अंत में अम्बिका की जय-जयकार करता एक समापन श्लोक है।
भुवनेश्वरीं नमस्यामो भक्तकल्पद्रुमां सदा । वरदां कामदां शान्तां कृष्णातीरनिवासिनीम् ॥ १ ॥
bhuvaneśvarīṃ namasyāmo bhaktakalpadrumāṃ sadā | varadāṃ kāmadāṃ śāntāṃ kṛṣṇātīranivāsinīm || 1||
हम सदा भुवनेश्वरी को नमन करते हैं, जो भक्तों के लिए कल्पवृक्ष हैं, वरदायिनी, कामनापूर्ति करने वाली, शांत स्वभाव वाली और कृष्णा नदी के तट पर निवास करने वाली हैं।
We ever bow to Bhuvaneshwari, the wish-fulfilling tree for her devotees -- giver of boons, fulfiller of desires, the peaceful one who dwells on the bank of the Krishna river.
सर्वसिद्धिप्रदे देवि भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदे शुभे । भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि मनोभीष्ट प्रदायिनी ॥ २ ॥
sarvasiddhiprade devi bhuktimuktiprade śubhe | bhuvaneśvarī mahākāli manobhīṣṭa pradāyinī || 2||
हे देवि, समस्त सिद्धियाँ देने वाली, भुक्ति और मुक्ति दोनों प्रदान करने वाली शुभे, हे भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि, तुम मनोवांछित फल देती हो।
O Goddess, giver of every siddhi, auspicious one who grants both worldly enjoyment and liberation -- O Bhuvaneshwari Mahakali, you grant the heart's cherished wish.
सर्वाभयप्रदे देवि सर्वदुष्टविनाशिनि । भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि मनोभीष्ट प्रदायिनी ॥ ३ ॥
sarvābhayaprade devi sarvaduṣṭavināśini | bhuvaneśvarī mahākāli manobhīṣṭa pradāyinī || 3||
हे देवि, सबको अभय देने वाली और समस्त दुष्टों का नाश करने वाली, हे भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि, तुम मनोवांछित फल देती हो।
O Goddess who grants fearlessness to all and destroys every wicked force -- O Bhuvaneshwari Mahakali, you grant the heart's cherished wish.
सर्व क्लेशहरे देवि (श्री) महाविष्णुस्वरूपिणी । भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि मनोभीष्ट प्रदायिनी ॥ ४ ॥
sarva kleśahare devi (śrī) mahāviṣṇusvarūpiṇī | bhuvaneśvarī mahākāli manobhīṣṭa pradāyinī || 4||
हे देवि, समस्त क्लेशों को हरने वाली, महाविष्णु की स्वरूपा, हे भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि, तुम मनोवांछित फल देती हो।
O Goddess who removes every affliction, embodiment of the great Vishnu himself -- O Bhuvaneshwari Mahakali, you grant the heart's cherished wish.
अन्तर्यामिस्वरूपेण स्थिते सर्वत्र सर्वगे । भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि मनोभीष्ट प्रदायिनी ॥ ५ ॥
antaryāmisvarūpeṇa sthite sarvatra sarvage | bhuvaneśvarī mahākāli manobhīṣṭa pradāyinī || 5||
सर्वत्र अंतर्यामी रूप में स्थित, हे सर्वगे, हे भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि, तुम मनोवांछित फल देती हो।
Abiding everywhere as the inner controller within all beings, O all-pervading one -- O Bhuvaneshwari Mahakali, you grant the heart's cherished wish.
भवनाश करे देवि भवभेषजदायिनी । भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि मनोभीष्ट प्रदायिनी ॥ ६ ॥
bhavanāśa kare devi bhavabheṣajadāyinī | bhuvaneśvarī mahākāli manobhīṣṭa pradāyinī || 6||
हे देवि, भव-नाश करने वाली और भव-रोग की औषधि देने वाली, हे भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि, तुम मनोवांछित फल देती हो।
O Goddess who ends the cycle of birth and death, giver of the healing remedy for worldly suffering -- O Bhuvaneshwari Mahakali, you grant the heart's cherished wish.
अविद्यापटलध्वंसि महानन्देऽभयप्रदे । भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि मनोभीष्ट प्रदायिनी ॥ ७ ॥
avidyāpaṭaladhvaṃsi mahānande'bhayaprade | bhuvaneśvarī mahākāli manobhīṣṭa pradāyinī || 7||
हे अविद्या के आवरण को नष्ट करने वाली, हे महानंदे, हे अभयप्रदे, हे भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि, तुम मनोवांछित फल देती हो।
O destroyer of the veil of ignorance, O great bliss, giver of fearlessness -- O Bhuvaneshwari Mahakali, you grant the heart's cherished wish.
संसारतरणोपाये निर्जरैरूपसेविते । भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि मनोभीष्ट प्रदायिनी ॥ ८ ॥
saṃsārataraṇopāye nirjarairūpasevite | bhuvaneśvarī mahākāli manobhīṣṭa pradāyinī || 8||
हे संसार-तरण के उपाय, देवताओं द्वारा सेवित, हे भुवनेश्वरी महाकालि, तुम मनोवांछित फल देती हो।
O means of crossing the ocean of worldly existence, attended upon by the immortal gods themselves -- O Bhuvaneshwari Mahakali, you grant the heart's cherished wish.
जय जय अम्बिके सिद्धप्रदे । अभिष्टदायिनी मुक्तिप्रदे । अभयप्रदे भक्तकामदे । महानन्दे भवानी । सर्वव्यापके विष्णुरूपिणी । महाकाली दुःखहारिणी । अज्ञानपटलध्वंसकारिणी । देवी मृडानी सर्वगे ॥
jaya jaya ambike siddhaprade | abhiṣṭadāyinī muktiprade | abhayaprade bhaktakāmade | mahānande bhavānī | sarvavyāpake viṣṇurūpiṇī | mahākālī duḥkhahāriṇī | ajñānapaṭaladhvaṃsakāriṇī | devī mṛḍānī sarvage ||
जय जय अम्बिके, सिद्धि देने वाली, अभीष्ट देने वाली, मुक्ति देने वाली! अभय देने वाली, भक्तों की कामना पूर्ण करने वाली, हे महानंदस्वरूपा भवानी! सर्वव्यापिनी, विष्णुरूपा, दुःखहारिणी महाकाली, अज्ञान के आवरण को नष्ट करने वाली, हे सर्वव्यापी देवी मृडानी।
Victory, victory to Ambika, giver of spiritual powers, fulfiller of wishes, giver of liberation! Giver of fearlessness, fulfiller of devotees' desires, O great bliss Bhavani! All-pervading embodiment of Vishnu, Mahakali who removes sorrow, destroyer of the veil of ignorance, O Goddess Mridani who is present everywhere.
