Mahalakshmi Ashtakam

namaste'stu mahāmāye śrīpīṭhe surapūjite | śaṅkhacakragadāhaste mahālakṣmi namo'stu te ||1||

हे महामाया, आपको मेरा नमस्कार है। आप शुभ सिंहासन पर विराजमान हैं और देवताओं द्वारा पूजित हैं। आपके हाथों में शंख, चक्र और गदा हैं, हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको बारंबार प्रणाम है।

Salutations to you, O great Mahamaya, who is seated on the auspicious throne and worshipped by all the gods. You hold the conch, discus, and mace in your hands, O Mahalakshmi, I bow to you. May my obeisance reach you, the supreme mother who embodies divine power and grace.

namaste garuḍārūḍhe kolāsurabhayaṅkari | sarvapāpahare devi mahālakṣmi namo'stu te ||2||

हे देवी, आपको नमस्कार है जो गरुड़ पर आरूढ़ हैं और कोलासुर को भय देती हैं। आप सभी पापों का नाश करने वाली हैं। हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको बारंबार प्रणाम है।

Salutations to you, O Goddess who rides the divine eagle Garuda and strikes terror into the demon Kolasura. You are the remover of all sins, O Devi Mahalakshmi, I bow to you again and again. Your divine vehicle symbolizes swift, soaring grace that destroys every darkness.

sarvajñe sarvavarade sarvāduṣṭabhayaṅkari | sarvaduḥkhahare devi mahālakṣmi namo'stu te ||3||

हे देवी, आप सर्वज्ञ हैं, सभी वर देने वाली हैं और सभी दुष्टों को भय देती हैं। आप समस्त दुःखों को हरने वाली हैं, हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको प्रणाम है। आपकी सर्वज्ञता से कोई भी सच्ची पुकार अनसुनी नहीं रहती।

O Goddess who is omniscient, the bestower of all boons, and the one who terrifies all the wicked. You are the remover of all sorrows and suffering, O Devi Mahalakshmi, I bow to you. Your all-knowing nature ensures that every sincere prayer reaches you, and your compassion never withholds what is truly needed.

siddhibuddhiprade devi bhuktimuktipadāyini | mantrapūte sadā devi mahālakṣmi namo'stu te ||4||

हे देवी, आप सिद्धि और बुद्धि देने वाली हैं तथा भोग और मोक्ष दोनों की प्रदायिनी हैं। आप सदा मंत्रों से पवित्र हैं, हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको सदा नमस्कार है। आप ही वह शक्ति हैं जो सांसारिक सुख और आत्मिक मुक्ति दोनों एक साथ देती हैं।

O Goddess, you are the bestower of spiritual accomplishment and sharp intellect, and you grant both worldly enjoyment and ultimate liberation. You are ever purified and consecrated by sacred mantras, O Devi Mahalakshmi, I bow to you always. In you alone is the rare harmony of material abundance and spiritual freedom.

ādyantarahite devi ādyaśaktimahheśvari | yogaje yogasambhūte mahālakṣmi namo'stu te ||5||

हे देवी, आप आदि और अंत से रहित हैं, आप आद्यशक्ति और महेश्वरी हैं। आप योग से उत्पन्न और योग से प्रकट होने वाली हैं, हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको नमस्कार है। आपका अनंत स्वरूप समस्त सृष्टि को धारण करता है।

O Goddess, you are without beginning or end, the primordial power and the great sovereign of all existence. You are born of divine yoga and manifested through the cosmic union of all energies, O Mahalakshmi, I bow to you. Your eternal nature transcends all of time, holding the universe together in perfect divine order.

sthūlasūkṣmamahāraudre mahāśaktimahōdare | mahāpāpahare devi mahālakṣmi namo'stu te ||6||

हे देवी, आप स्थूल और सूक्ष्म दोनों रूपों में व्याप्त हैं और अत्यंत उग्र शक्ति वाली हैं। आप महाशक्ति हैं और महापापों को नष्ट करने वाली हैं, हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको प्रणाम है। आपकी शक्ति परमाणु से लेकर ब्रह्मांड तक हर स्तर पर कार्य करती है।

O Goddess, you pervade both the gross physical world and the subtle unmanifest realm, and you are of terrific, all-consuming power. You are the great energy whose vastness contains all of creation, and you are the destroyer of even the gravest of sins, O Devi Mahalakshmi, I bow to you. Your power operates at every level of existence, from the atomic to the cosmic.

padmāsanasthite devi parabrahmasvarūpiṇi | parameśi jaganmātaḥ mahālakṣmi namo'stu te ||7||

हे देवी, आप कमल के आसन पर विराजमान हैं और परब्रह्म की स्वरूपिणी हैं। आप परमेश्वरी और जगत की माता हैं, हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको नमस्कार है। जिस कमल पर आप बैठती हैं, वह कीचड़ से उगकर शुद्धता का प्रतीक बनता है — ठीक वैसे ही जैसे आप हर अव्यवस्था में से सौंदर्य निकाल देती हैं।

O Goddess, seated serenely on the lotus, you are the very embodiment of the Supreme Brahman, the ultimate reality. You are the highest sovereign and the mother of the entire universe, O Mahalakshmi, I bow to you. The lotus on which you sit is the symbol of purity rising from the mud — just as you bring forth beauty from all of creation's chaos.

śvetāmbaradhare devi nānālaṅkārabhūṣite | jagatsthite jaganmātaḥ mahālakṣmi namo'stu te ||8||

हे देवी, आप श्वेत वस्त्र धारण करती हैं और अनेक प्रकार के आभूषणों से विभूषित हैं। आप समस्त जगत में व्याप्त हैं और जगत की माता हैं, हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको प्रणाम है। आपके श्वेत वस्त्र पवित्रता के और आभूषण अनंत समृद्धि के प्रतीक हैं।

O Goddess, you are clothed in pure white garments and adorned with innumerable ornaments and jewels of splendor. You dwell within the entire universe and are the mother of all that exists, O Mahalakshmi, I bow to you. Your white raiment speaks of absolute purity, while your many ornaments represent the infinite ways in which abundance manifests in the world.

mahālakṣmyaṣṭakaṃ stotraṃ yaḥ paṭhedbhaktimānnaraḥ | sarvasiddhimavāpnoti rājyaṃ prāpnoti sarvadā | ekakāle paṭhennityaṃ mahāpāpavināśanam | dvikālaṃ yaḥ paṭhennityaṃ dhanadhānyasamanvitaḥ | trikālaṃ yaḥ paṭhennityaṃ mahāśatruvināśanam | mahālakṣmīrbhavettasya prasannā varadā śubhā ||9||

जो भक्तिपूर्वक इस महालक्ष्म्यष्टकम् का पाठ करता है, वह सभी सिद्धियाँ और राज्य प्राप्त करता है। एक बार पाठ करने से महापाप नष्ट होते हैं, दो बार से धन-धान्य की प्राप्ति होती है और तीन बार पाठ करने से महाशत्रु का नाश होता है। ऐसे भक्त पर महालक्ष्मी प्रसन्न होकर वर और शुभ आशीर्वाद देती हैं।

Whoever recites this Mahalakshmi Ashtakam with true devotion attains all accomplishments and gains sovereignty always. One who recites it once daily is freed from great sins; one who recites it twice daily is blessed with wealth and abundant grain. One who recites it three times daily destroys all great enemies, and upon such a devoted soul, Mahalakshmi herself becomes pleased, gracious, and ever-auspicious. Thus the fruits of this sacred hymn are limitless for the sincere devotee.
