महाप्रभु हिन्दू भक्ति शब्दावली में सबसे वन्दनीय शीर्षकों में से एक है। यह 15वीं शताब्दी के बंगाल के वैष्णव सन्त श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु का शीर्षक था। जब अय्यप्पा यह नाम धारण करते हैं, वे महाप्रभु परम्परा में भाग लेते हैं: वह महाप्रभु जो एकसाथ पूर्णतः सम्प्रभु और पूर्णतः सुलभ है।
