योगनिद्रः

He who dwells in yogic sleep, the state of wakeful rest in which consciousness remains alert while releasing the gross activity of ordinary waking life

योगनिद्र, योगिक नींद में निवास करने वाले, वह जागृत विश्राम की अवस्था जिसमें चेतना सतर्क रहती है जबकि साधारण जागृत जीवन की स्थूल गतिविधि को छोड़ती है

योगनिद्रा के दो स्तर के अर्थ हैं। ब्रह्माण्डीय स्तर पर यह विष्णु की सृष्टियों के बीच विश्राम की अवस्था को संदर्भित करता है। व्यावहारिक स्तर पर यह योगिक सचेत विश्राम की तकनीक को। अय्यप्पा योगनिद्र के रूप में दोनों में भाग लेते हैं।
