परिव्राजक, जिसने बिना किसी निश्चित घर या स्थिर पहचान के शाश्वत गति के माध्यम से पूर्ण त्याग का मार्ग लिया है

परिब्राजक दत्तात्रेय को विशेष रूप से परिव्राजक नाम देता है: एक भ्रमणशील भिक्षु जिसने संन्यास की चौथी अवस्था को अपने सबसे मूलगामी रूप में लिया है। शंकराचार्य परम्परा में वर्णित चार प्रकार के संन्यासियों में परिव्राजक वह है जो सबसे गहरे त्याग तक गया है। दत्तात्रेय परिब्राजक के रूप में परम भ्रमणशील ऋषि का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं, जिनकी स्वयं की गति उनकी शिक्षा है।
