जगत के नाथ, जिनकी सार्वभौमिकता प्रशासनिक नहीं बल्कि आत्मीय है: संसार उनका क्षेत्र है और उसमें हर प्राणी उनकी व्यक्तिगत देखभाल में है

जगन्नाथ सबसे प्रसिद्ध रूप से ओडिशा के पुरी में विष्णु का नाम है। जब अय्यप्पा यह नाम धारण करते हैं, वे सार्वभौमिक दिव्य देखभाल की जगन्नाथ परम्परा में भाग लेते हैं। पुरी जगन्नाथ मन्दिर की परम्परा सभी को खिलाने की शबरीमला के अन्नदान जैसी ही है: जगत का प्रभु अपने जगत को खिलाता है।
