वाय्वात्मकः

He whose nature is the wind, the living breath-principle that animates all creatures, carries the sacred sounds of chanting, and cleanses the spaces it passes through

जिनकी प्रकृति वायु है, वह जीवन्त प्राण-सिद्धान्त जो सभी प्राणियों को प्राण देता है, जप की पवित्र ध्वनियाँ वहन करता है, और जिन स्थानों से गुजरता है उन्हें शुद्ध करता है

वायु ऐसे वैदिक देवताओं में से एक है जिनका महत्त्व सबसे अधिक है। हनुमान, अय्यप्पा के वन-परम्परा में सबसे निकट भक्तिमय रिश्तेदार, वायु के पुत्र हैं। जब अय्यप्पा वायु-प्रकृति धारण करते हैं, वे इस वंश में भाग लेते हैं। शबरीमला की पहाड़ियों की हवा में उनकी उपस्थिति उन लोगों द्वारा अनुभव होती है जिनकी इन्द्रियाँ अभ्यास से परिष्कृत हुई हैं।
