Venkateswara Ashtakam

veṅkaṭeśo vāsudevaḥ pradyumno'mitatejasaḥ, aniruddho mahāviṣṇuḥ śrīnivāsaḥ satāṃ gatiḥ.

वे वेङ्कटेश हैं — वेङ्कट पर्वत के अधिपति, सर्वव्यापी वासुदेव और अमित तेजस्वी प्रद्युम्न हैं। वे अनिरुद्ध हैं, महाविष्णु हैं और माँ लक्ष्मी के नित्य निवास श्रीनिवास हैं। वे सत्पुरुषों की परम गति और एकमात्र सच्चा आश्रय हैं।

He is Venkatesha, the Lord of the Venkata hill, Vasudeva the all-pervading, and Pradyumna of immeasurable radiance. He is Aniruddha the irresistible, the great Vishnu Himself, and Srinivasa — the eternal abode of Goddess Lakshmi. He is the supreme refuge and ultimate destination of all the righteous and virtuous souls.

kamalā kānta viśveśa jagadādhāra mādhava, govinda paramānanda sarvaloka namaskṛta.

हे कमलाकांत — माँ लक्ष्मी के प्रियतम, हे विश्वेश — ब्रह्मांड के स्वामी, हे माधव — इस सम्पूर्ण जगत के एकमात्र आधार! आप गोविन्द हैं — पृथ्वी और सभी जीवों के रक्षक, और परमानंद — असीम आनंद के साकार रूप हैं। समस्त लोक और समस्त प्राणी आपको बारम्बार प्रणाम करते हैं।

O beloved of Goddess Kamala, O Lord of the universe, O Madhava who is the very support upon which this entire creation rests! You are Govinda, the protector of all life and the earth, and You are Paramānanda — the embodiment of supreme, infinite bliss. All the worlds and all beings across every plane of existence bow before You in reverent salutation.

śrī-veṅkaṭa-girīśāya śrita-kalpa-drumāya ca, bhaktārti-hāriṇe nityaṃ namaste viṣṇave namaḥ.

उन श्रीवेङ्कट पर्वत के अधीश्वर को नमस्कार, जो शरणागत भक्तों के लिए दिव्य कल्पवृक्ष के समान हैं। वे अपने भक्तों की पीड़ा और संताप को सदा हरने वाले हैं। मैं उन महाविष्णु को बारम्बार और नित्य प्रणाम करता हूँ।

Salutations to the Lord of the sacred Venkata mountain, who is like a divine wish-fulfilling Kalpavriksha tree to all those who seek refuge at His feet. He is the eternal remover of the suffering and anguish of His devotees, always present to alleviate their pain. I offer my perpetual and reverent salutations to this great Lord Vishnu, again and again.

śaṅkha-cakra-gadā-pāṇe dvārakā-nilayācyuta, govinda puṇḍarīkākṣa rakṣa māṃ śaraṇāgatam.

हे शंख, चक्र और गदा धारण करने वाले, हे द्वारका में निवास करने वाले अच्युत — अविनाशी और अपराजित प्रभु! हे गोविन्द, हे पुण्डरीकाक्ष — जिनकी दृष्टि कमल के समान करुणामयी और पवित्र है — मेरी रक्षा करें, क्योंकि मैंने आपकी शरण ग्रहण कर ली है। आपके सिवा मुझे कोई आश्रय नहीं।

O Lord who holds the conch, discus, and mace in Your hands, O Achyuta who is imperishable and infallible, whose eternal abode is Dwaraka! O Govinda, O Lotus-eyed one whose gaze is as compassionate and pure as the morning lotus — please protect me, for I have surrendered completely at Your divine feet. There is no other refuge I seek but You.

tirumala-adri-nilayāya tirupateḥ pataye namaḥ, śrīdevī-bhūdevī-sahitāya śreyase namaḥ.

उस प्रभु को नमस्कार, जिनका पावन निवास तिरुमल पर्वत है और जो तिरुपति के परम स्वामी हैं। वे सदा श्रीदेवी (लक्ष्मी) और भूदेवी (पृथ्वी देवी) के साथ विराजमान रहते हैं। मैं उन्हें प्रणाम करता हूँ जो समस्त मंगल और परम कल्याण के मूल स्रोत हैं।

Salutations to the Lord whose sacred abode is the Tirumala mountain, the supreme master and presiding deity of Tirupati. He is ever accompanied by Goddess Sridevi (Lakshmi) and Goddess Bhudevi (the Earth deity), and I bow to Him who is the very embodiment and source of all auspiciousness and ultimate well-being. May He grant us the highest good in all our endeavors.

koṭi-janmārjitaṃ pāpaṃ smaraṇena vinaśyati, kva bhavet pātakaṃ ghoraṃ tava nāmānukīrtanāt.

करोड़ों जन्मों में अर्जित पाप और नकारात्मक कर्म केवल प्रभु के स्मरण मात्र से नष्ट हो जाते हैं। फिर जब उनके पावन नाम का निरंतर कीर्तन हो, तो कोई भी महापाप कहाँ टिक सकता है? उनके नाम की शक्ति समस्त कर्मभार को पार करके आत्मा को अतुलनीय रूप से शुद्ध कर देती है।

The sins and negative karmas accumulated over crores of past lifetimes are completely destroyed by the mere sincere remembrance of the Lord. Then where can any terrible or grievous sin even dare to remain when one continuously chants and glorifies His holy name? The power of His name transcends all karmic weight and purifies the soul beyond measure.

veṅkaṭādri-samaṃ sthānaṃ brahmāṇḍe nāsti kiñcana, veṅkaṭeśa-samo devo na bhūto na bhaviṣyati.

सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्मांड में कोई भी स्थान वेङ्कट पर्वत के समान नहीं है — यह सभी तीर्थों में सर्वोच्च है। न अतीत में कोई देवता वेङ्कटेश के समान हुआ है, न भविष्य में होगा — वे सभी काल में अतुलनीय, अनुपम और परमश्रेष्ठ हैं।

There is no place in the entire universe that can be compared to or equaled by the sacred Venkata mountain — it stands utterly supreme among all holy sites in all creation. Nor has there ever been, nor will there ever be, any deity equal to Lord Venkatesha — He is incomparable, unique, and supreme across all time: past, present, and future.

aṣṭa-ślokam idaṃ puṇyaṃ yaḥ paṭhet prayataḥ śuciḥ, sarvān kāmān avāpnoti veṅkaṭeśa prasādataḥ.

जो भी इस पवित्र और पुण्यकारी अष्टश्लोकी स्तुति को भक्तिपूर्वक और शुद्ध हृदय से पढ़ता है, वह श्रीवेङ्कटेश की कृपा से अपनी समस्त उचित कामनाओं को प्राप्त करता है। यही इस अष्टकम का परम फल है — भगवान तिरुमला की कृपा से अनुगृहीत एक सम्पूर्ण और सुन्दर जीवन।

Whoever recites this sacred and meritorious hymn of eight verses with devoted discipline and purity of heart shall, by the abundant grace of Lord Venkatesha, attain the fulfillment of all their righteous desires and wishes. This is the supreme fruit of this ashtakam — a complete and beautiful life blessed by the Lord of Tirumala Himself.
