बृहस्पति स्तोत्रम्
Brihaspati Stotram — a hymn to Brihaspati (Guru / Jupiter), the guru of the gods and lord of wisdom. Recited on Thursdays to strengthen Jupiter and invoke knowledge and prosperity.
बृहस्पति स्तोत्र — देवगुरु बृहस्पति (गुरु / गुरु ग्रह) की स्तुति। गुरुवार को जुपिटर को बल देने तथा ज्ञान और समृद्धि के लिए पढ़ा जाता है।
देवानां च ऋषीणां च गुरुं काञ्चनसन्निभम्। बुद्धिभूतं त्रिलोकेशं तं नमामि बृहस्पतिम्॥१॥
devānāṃ ca ṛṣīṇāṃ ca guruṃ kāñcanasannibham | buddhibhūtaṃ trilokeśaṃ taṃ namāmi bṛhaspatim ||1||
मैं देवों और ऋषियों के गुरु, कांचन समान, बुद्धिस्वरूप और त्रिलोकेश बृहस्पति को प्रणाम करता हूँ।
I bow to Brihaspati, guru of gods and sages, golden in radiance, embodiment of wisdom and teacher-lord of the three worlds.
गुरुर्बृहस्पतिर्जीवः सुराचार्यो विदां वरः। वागीशो धिषणो दीर्घश्मश्रुः पीताम्बरो युवा॥२॥
gururbṛhaspatirjīvaḥ surācāryo vidāṃ varaḥ | vāgīśo dhiṣaṇo dīrghaśmaśruḥ pītāmbaro yuvā ||2||
गुरु बृहस्पति, जिन्हें जीव भी कहा जाता है, देवों के आचार्य और विद्वानों में श्रेष्ठ, वाणी के स्वामी, दीर्घश्मश्रु, पीताम्बरधारी और सदा युवा हैं।
Guru Brihaspati, also called Jiva, preceptor of the gods and foremost among the learned, lord of speech, long-bearded, clad in yellow, and ever youthful.
सुधादृष्टिर्ग्रहाधीशो ग्रहपीडापहारकः। दयाकरः सौम्यमूर्तिः सुरार्च्यः कुड्मलद्युतिः॥३॥
sudhādṛṣṭirgrahādhīśo grahapīḍāpahārakaḥ | dayākaraḥ saumyamūrtiḥ surārcyaḥ kuḍmaladyutiḥ ||3||
जिनकी दृष्टि अमृत समान है, ग्रहों के अधीश्वर और ग्रह-पीड़ा हरने वाले, दयालु, सौम्यमूर्ति, देवों द्वारा पूजित और कली के समान दीप्तिमान।
Whose glance is like nectar, lord among the planets and remover of planetary affliction, compassionate, gentle in form, worshipped by the gods, radiant like a blossoming bud.
लोकपूज्यो लोकगुरुः नीतिज्ञो नीतिकारकः। तारापतिश्चाङ्गिरसो वेदवेद्यः पितामहः॥४॥
lokapūjyo lokaguruḥ nītijño nītikārakaḥ | tārāpatiścāṅgiraso vedavedyaḥ pitāmahaḥ ||4||
सभी लोकों द्वारा पूजित, लोकगुरु, नीति के ज्ञाता और उसके पालनकर्ता, तारापति, अंगिरस-पुत्र, वेदों द्वारा ज्ञेय और पितामह समान वंदनीय।
Worshipped by all the worlds, teacher of the worlds, knower and upholder of right conduct, lord of Tara, son of sage Angiras, known through the Vedas, venerable as an elder.
भक्त्या बृहस्पतिं स्मृत्वा नामान्येतानि यः पठेत्। अरोगी बलवान् श्रीमान् पुत्रवान् स भवेन्नरः॥५॥
bhaktyā bṛhaspatiṃ smṛtvā nāmānyetāni yaḥ paṭhet | arogī balavān śrīmān putravān sa bhavennaraḥ ||5||
जो भक्तिपूर्वक बृहस्पति का स्मरण कर इन नामों का पाठ करता है, वह नीरोग, बलवान, श्रीमान और पुत्रवान होता है।
Whoever remembers Brihaspati with devotion and recites these names becomes free of disease, strong, prosperous, and blessed with children.
जीवेद्वर्षशतं मर्त्यः पापं नश्यति तत्क्षणात्। यः पूजयेद्गुरोर्दिने पीतगन्धाक्षताम्बरैः॥६॥
jīvedvarṣaśataṃ martyaḥ pāpaṃ naśyati tatkṣaṇāt | yaḥ pūjayedguror dine pītagandhākṣatāmbaraiḥ ||6||
जो गुरुवार को पीत चंदन, अक्षत और वस्त्र से पूजा करता है, वह सौ वर्ष जीवित रहता है और उसका पाप उसी क्षण नष्ट हो जाता है।
The mortal who worships on Guru's day (Thursday) with yellow sandal paste, unbroken rice, and cloth lives a hundred years, and sin is destroyed in that instant.
पुष्पदीपोपहारैश्च पूजयित्वा वरं बृहस्पतिम्। ब्राह्मणान् भोजयित्वा च पीडा शान्तिर्भवेद्गुरोः॥७॥
puṣpadīpopahāraiśca pūjayitvā varaṃ bṛhaspatim | brāhmaṇān bhojayitvā ca pīḍā śāntirbhavedguroḥ ||7||
पुष्प, दीप और उपहारों से महान बृहस्पति की पूजा करके तथा ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराकर गुरु की पीड़ा शांत होती है।
Having worshipped the great Brihaspati with flowers, lamps, and offerings, and having fed brahmins, the affliction caused by Guru (Jupiter) is pacified.
