Dhanvantari Suktam

oṃ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya dhanvantaraye | amṛtakalaśahastāya sarvāmayavināśanāya | trailokyanāthāya śrīmahāviṣṇave namaḥ ||1||

ॐ भगवान् वासुदेव धन्वन्तरि को नमस्कार, जिनके हाथ में अमृतकलश है, जो सभी रोगों का नाश करते हैं और तीनों लोकों के स्वामी हैं; महाविष्णु को नमस्कार।

Om, salutations to Bhagavan Vasudeva as Dhanvantari, who holds the pot of nectar and destroys all diseases, the Lord of the three worlds; salutations to the great Vishnu.

dhanvantariśca bhagavān svayameva kīrtirnāmnā nṛṇāṃ pururujāṃ ruja āśu hanti | yajñe ca bhāgamamṛtāyuravāvarundha āyuṣyavedamanuśāstyavatīrya loke ||2||

भगवान् स्वयं धन्वन्तरि रूप में, जिनका नाम और यश ही मनुष्यों के अनेक रोगों को शीघ्र नष्ट कर देते हैं; इस लोक में अवतरित होकर उन्होंने यज्ञ में भाग प्राप्त किया और आयुर्वेद की शिक्षा दी जो दीर्घायु प्रदान करती है।

And the Blessed Lord Himself, as Dhanvantari, whose very name and fame swiftly destroy the many diseases of men; descending into this world, he secured a share of the sacrificial offerings and teaches the science of Ayurveda that grants long life.

namāmi dhanvantarimādidevaṃ surāsurairvanditapādapadmam | loke jarārugbhayamṛtyunāśaṃ dhātāramīśaṃ vividhauṣadhīnām ||3||

मैं आदिदेव धन्वन्तरि को नमस्कार करता हूँ, जिनके चरणकमल देव और असुर दोनों द्वारा वंदित हैं, जो इस लोक में जरा, रोग, भय और मृत्यु का नाश करते हैं -- वे विविध औषधियों के स्वामी और दाता हैं।

I bow to Dhanvantari, the primordial deity, whose lotus feet are worshipped by gods and demons alike, who in this world destroys old age, disease, fear, and death -- the Lord and giver of various medicines.

śaṅkhaṃ cakraṃ jalaukāṃ dadhadamṛtaghaṭaṃ cārudorbhiścaturbhiḥ sūkṣmasvacchātihṛdyāṃśukaparivilasanmaulimambhojanetram | kālāmbhodojjvalāṅgaṃ kaṭitaṭavilasaccārupītāmbarāḍhyaṃ vande dhanvantariṃ taṃ nikhilagadavanaprauḍhadāvāgnilīlam ||4||

अपने चार सुंदर हाथों में शंख, चक्र, जलौका और अमृतघट धारण किए, सूक्ष्म स्वच्छ वस्त्रों में झलकते मुकुट और कमल-नेत्रों से युक्त, मेघ के समान श्यामल तेजस्वी शरीर और कमर पर सुंदर पीताम्बर धारण किए -- मैं उन धन्वन्तरि को नमस्कार करता हूँ, जिनकी लीला ही समस्त रोगों के वन को दावाग्नि की भाँति भस्म कर देती है।

Bearing conch, discus, leech, and a pot of nectar in his four graceful hands, his crown and lotus eyes gleaming through fine, clear garments, his form radiant like a dark rain-cloud and his waist adorned with fine yellow cloth -- I bow to that Dhanvantari, whose very play burns away every disease like a mighty forest-fire.

oṃ namo bhagavate mahāsudarśanāya vāsudevāya dhanvantaraye | amṛtakalaśahastāya sarvabhayavināśāya sarvaroganivāraṇāya trilokapathāya trilokanāthāya śrīmahāviṣṇusvarūpa śrīdhanvantarisvarūpa śrī śrī śrī auṣadhacakranārāyaṇāya namaḥ ||5||

ॐ महासुदर्शन धारण करने वाले भगवान् वासुदेव धन्वन्तरि को नमस्कार, जो अमृतकलशधारी, सर्वभयनाशक, सर्वरोगनिवारक, त्रिलोक के पथ और नाथ हैं, महाविष्णु-स्वरूप, श्रीधन्वन्तरि-स्वरूप हैं -- औषधचक्र नारायण को नमस्कार।

Om, salutations to the Blessed Lord bearing the great discus, Vasudeva as Dhanvantari, holder of the pot of nectar, destroyer of all fear, remover of all disease, the path and Lord of the three worlds, of the form of the great Vishnu, of the form of Sri Dhanvantari -- salutations to Narayana of the wheel of medicine.

oṃ dhanvantaraye vidmahe amṛtakalaśahastāya dhīmahi tanno dhanvantariḥ pracodayāt ||6||

ॐ हम धन्वन्तरि को जानने का प्रयास करते हैं; अमृतकलशधारी का हम ध्यान करते हैं; वे धन्वन्तरि हमारी बुद्धि को प्रेरित और प्रकाशित करें।

Om, we seek to know Dhanvantari; we meditate on the one who holds the pot of nectar; may that Dhanvantari illuminate and guide our understanding.
