Indra Suktam -- a compilation of Vedic verses to Indra, king of the gods and wielder of the thunderbolt. Chanted for strength, courage, victory over adversaries, and the power to overcome obstacles.
इन्द्र सूक्तम् -- देवराज और वज्रधारी इन्द्र से संबंधित वैदिक ऋचाओं का संकलन। बल, साहस, शत्रु-विजय और विघ्नों पर विजय की शक्ति के लिए पढ़ा जाता है।
इन्द्रं मित्रं वरुणमग्निमाहुरथो दिव्यः स सुपर्णो गरुत्मान्। एकं सद्विप्रा बहुधा वदन्त्यग्निं यमं मातरिश्वानमाहुः॥१॥
indraṃ mitraṃ varuṇamagnimāhuratho divyaḥ sa suparṇo garutmān | ekaṃ sadviprā bahudhā vadantyagniṃ yamaṃ mātariśvānamāhuḥ ||1||
विद्वान एक सत्य को अनेक नामों से कहते हैं: इन्द्र, मित्र, वरुण, अग्नि, यम और मातरिश्वा।
The wise speak of the One Reality in many ways: as Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Agni, Yama, and Matarishvan.
इन्द्रं वर्धन्तो अप्तुरः कृण्वन्तो विश्वमार्यम्। अपघ्नन्तो अराव्णः॥२॥
indraṃ vardhanto apturaḥ kṛṇvanto viśvamāryam | apaghnanto arāvṇaḥ ||2||
साधक इन्द्र को स्तुति से बल देते हुए विश्व को आर्य/श्रेष्ठ बनाते हैं और अरि वृत्तियों को दूर करते हैं।
Strengthening Indra with devotion, the active ones make the world noble and drive away hostile, ungenerous forces.
इन्द्र इद्धर्योः सचा सम्मिश्ल आ वचोयुजा। इन्द्रो वज्री हिरण्ययः॥३॥
indra id dharyoḥ sacā sammiśla ā vacoyujā | indro vajrī hiraṇyayaḥ ||3||
इन्द्र अपने दो पिंगल अश्वों के साथ, जो उनके आह्वान से जुते हैं, संयुक्त होकर विचरते हैं; स्वर्णिम इन्द्र वज्र धारण करते हैं।
Indra rides united with his two tawny steeds, yoked at his call; Indra, the golden one, wields the thunderbolt.
इन्द्रो दीर्घाय चक्षस आ सूर्यं रोहयद्दिवि। वि गोभिरद्रिमैरयत्॥४॥
indro dīrghāya cakṣasa ā sūryaṃ rohayad divi | vi gobhir adrim airayat ||4||
इन्द्र ने आकाश में सूर्य को स्थापित किया ताकि दूर तक देखा जा सके; अपनी किरणों से उन्होंने पर्वत में बंद जलधाराओं को मुक्त किया।
Indra raised the sun in the heavens so that all could see far; with his radiant rays he opened the rock-bound waters.
इन्द्र वाजेषु नोऽव सहस्रप्रधनेषु च। उग्र उग्राभिरूतिभिः॥५॥
indra vājeṣu no 'va sahasrapradhaneṣu ca | ugra ugrābhir ūtibhiḥ ||5||
हे उग्र इन्द्र, हमारे प्रयासों में और सहस्र-पुरस्कार वाले महान संघर्षों में अपनी शक्तिशाली सहायता से हमारी रक्षा करें।
O mighty Indra, protect us in our efforts and in the great contests worth a thousand prizes, with your powerful aid.
इन्द्रं वयं महाधन इन्द्रमर्भे हवामहे। युजं वृत्रेषु वज्रिणम्॥६॥
indraṃ vayam mahādhana indram arbhe havāmahe | yujaṃ vṛtreṣu vajriṇam ||6||
हम महान और लघु दोनों प्रकार के संघर्षों में इन्द्र का आह्वान करते हैं, अपने सहचर वज्रधारी के रूप में, हर बाधा के बीच।
We call upon Indra in great battles and small alike, as our ally, the thunderbolt-wielder, amid every obstacle.
