शर्म संस्कृत में सुख है, ब्राह्मणों के नाम के पीछे 'शर्मा' इसी शब्द से आता है। देवी शर्मदायिनी वह सुख देती हैं जो बाहरी परिस्थितियों पर निर्भर नहीं करता। जब AC ख़राब हो, ट्रेन लेट हो, ट्रैफ़िक में फँसे हों, तब भी भीतर का सुख बना रहे, वही शर्म है।
