तैजस (स्वप्न में अनुभव करने वाली प्रकाशमयी आत्मा) का सार

मांडूक्य उपनिषद में जाग्रत अवस्था का आत्मा 'विश्व' है, स्वप्न अवस्था का 'तैजस', सुषुप्ति का 'प्राज्ञ'। तैजस = तेज (light) से बना, अर्थात् सपनों में जो प्रकाश है वह बाहरी सूर्य से नहीं, भीतरी तैजस से आता है। जब सपने में रंग दिखें, वह तैजस प्रकाश है। देवी उस तैजस की आत्मा हैं।
