शम्भु नाम इतना popular है कि लाखों भारतीयों का नाम Shambhu, Shambhunath, Shambhavi है। शादी के card पर 'शुभ मंगल' लिखते हैं — वो शम्भु शिव का ही आशीर्वाद है। दुकान खोलते समय जब नारियल फोड़ते हैं और अगरबत्ती जलाते हैं — शम्भु को याद करके शुभ शुरुआत करते हैं। Monday morning जब office जाने से पहले शिव मंदिर में माथा टेकते हैं — वो शम्भु से पूरे हफ्ते की शुभता माँग रहे होते हैं।
