वह्निः

The sacred fire who carries all offerings to the divine realm

पवित्र अग्नि, जो सभी आहुतियों को दिव्य लोक तक पहुँचाती है

वह्नि = वहन करने वाला (carrier)। अग्नि (fire) को 'वह्नि' इसलिए कहते हैं क्योंकि वो हवन की आहुतियों को 'वहन' (carry) करके देवताओं तक पहुँचाती है। भारतीय विवाह में 'अग्नि साक्षी' (fire witness) होती है, हर हवन में अग्नि 'डाकिया' (postman) है जो भक्त का सन्देश भगवान तक ले जाती है। वह्नि भगवान स्वयं वो अग्नि हैं: जब कोई दीपक जलाता है, तो भगवान प्रकट होते हैं।
