Tapati Answers Samvarana
The Gandharva continues: when Tapati vanishes, King Samvarana falls senseless, and she reappears and bids him rise. Burning with love, the king begs her to take him as husband by the Gandharva form of marriage. Tapati answers that, as a maiden whose father lives, she is not her own mistress; she reveals that she is Tapati, younger sister of Savitri and daughter of the Sun, and tells him to win her from her father by homage, austerity and discipline.
