Kadru's Hymn to Indra
Garuda comes to his mother, who is now Kadru's slave. Kadru orders Vinata to carry her to a lovely home of the Nagas in the ocean, and Garuda, at his mother's bidding, carries the serpents; but he flies toward the sun and they faint in its heat. Kadru then praises Indra at length as the cloud, the wind, the fire, every measure of time, the earth, sky and ocean and the lord of sacrifice, and begs him to rescue the scorched serpents with his rain.

Then the bird, who went where he wished, of great valour and great strength, came to his mother's side on the far shore of the great ocean,
Verse 2 (1.25.2)
यत्र सा विनता तस्मिन्पणितेन पराजिता । अतीव दुःखसंतप्ता दासीभावमुपागता ॥

Then one day, at a time of her choosing, Kadru called Vinata, who had bowed before her in her son's presence, and spoke these words:
Verse 4 (1.25.4)
नागानामालयं भद्रे सुरम्यं चारुदर्शनम् । समुद्रकुक्षावेकान्ते तत्र मां विनते नय ॥
nāgānāmālayaṃ bhadre suramyaṃ cārudarśanam | samudrakukṣāvekānte tatra māṃ vinate naya

Then the mother of Suparna carried the mother of the serpents, and Garuda too, urged by his mother's words, carried the serpents.
Verse 6 (1.25.6)

sa sūryamabhito yāti vainateyo vihaṃgamaḥ | sūryaraśmiprataptāśca mūrcchitāḥ pannagā'bhavan
That bird, Vinata's son, flew toward the sun, and the serpents, scorched by the sun's rays, fainted.
