Arundhati and Citragupta on Gifts of Cows, Water and Lamps
The sages and ancestors ask Arundhati for the secrets of dharma. She teaches the gift of tawny cows, the cow-horn water, and whom the teaching must not be given to; Brahma grants her a boon. Yama then relates Citragupta's teaching: no deed is lost, and in the dark world of the dead the gifts of water, a lamp, a tawny cow at Pushkara, sandals and an umbrella are the means of crossing. Vibhavasu closes with the five who cannot be spoken to by gods or ancestors and who are cooked in hell.
