Kapila Burns the Sons of Sagara; Amshuman Recovers the Horse
Lomasha continues the story of Sagara. His sixty thousand sons find the sacrificial horse beside the sage Kapila, ignore him and rush at it, and Kapila burns them to ashes with the fire of his eyes. In answer to Yudhishthira, Lomasha explains why Sagara had banished his son Asamanja; Sagara then sends Asamanja's son Amshuman, who wins Kapila's favour, brings back the horse and is promised that his grandson will bring the Ganga down from heaven. Sagara completes his sacrifice; Amshuman and then Dilipa reign, Dilipa fails to bring down the Ganga, and his son Bhagiratha succeeds to the throne.
