The Pandavas Miss Arjuna in Kamyaka
Janamejaya asks what the Pandavas did in Kamyaka while Arjuna was away. Vaishampayana tells how they lived on joylessly, hunting and gathering food for the brahmins. Draupadi laments that the forest has lost its charm without Arjuna, and Bhima, Nakula and Sahadeva in turn recall his mighty arms and his feats, from the northern conquest and the Rajasuya to the winning of Subhadra and Drona's fee, each saying that the forest gives them no joy without him.

bhagavankāmyakātpārthe gate me prapitāmahe | pāṇḍavāḥ kimakurvaṃste tamṛte savyasācinam
Lord, when Partha, my great-grandfather, had left Kamyaka, what did the Pandavas do without Savyasachin?
Note on the text: Corrected भगवान् → भगवन् (misprint in Wikisource; Janamejaya is addressing Vaishampayana, so the vocative is needed, and the critical edition reads bhagavan).
Verse 2 (3.78.2)
स हि तेषां महेष्वासो गतिरासीदनीकजित् । आदित्यानां यथा विष्णुस्तथैव प्रतिभाति मे ॥
sa hi teṣāṃ maheṣvāso gatirāsīdanīkajit | ādityānāṃ yathā viṣṇustathaiva pratibhāti me
For that great archer, conqueror of armies, was their refuge; he seems to me to have been to them what Vishnu is among the Adityas.
Verse 3 (3.78.3)
तेनेन्द्रसमवीर्येण संग्रामेष्वनिवर्तिना । विनाभूता वने वीराः कथमासन्पितामहाः ॥
