Yudhishthira Visits the Hermitages; Vyasa Arrives

The night passes in talk, the Pandavas sleeping on the ground beside their mother and eating as Dhritarashtra eats. In the morning Yudhishthira, with Dhritarashtra's leave, tours the circle of hermitages and gives the ascetics vessels and goods of every kind, then returns and sits with the elders. Shatayupa and other sages of Kurukshetra come, followed by Vyasa with his disciples; all rise to greet him, and he takes the seat prepared for him.
