Sanjaya Begins: Duryodhana Orders Bhishma Guarded
Sanjaya answers that Dhritarashtra should not lay the blame on Duryodhana, since a man who suffers for his own misdeeds cannot blame another, and that the Pandavas long bore their wrongs out of regard for him. Bowing to Vyasa, by whose boon he can see and hear the whole war, he begins his account. With the armies drawn up, Duryodhana tells Duhshasana that Bhishma, who will not fight Shikhandi because Shikhandi was once a woman, must be guarded above all, so that Shikhandi, shielded by Arjuna, cannot kill him.
