Duryodhana Reproaches Bhishma
On the third day the kings ring Arjuna with thousands of chariots and a storm of weapons, which he beats back to the applause of gods and spirits, while Satyaki, his chariot cut to pieces by the Saubalas, joins Abhimanyu on one chariot to rout Shakuni's host. Bhima strikes Duryodhana senseless and his army breaks; Bhishma and Drona cannot stop the flight until Duryodhana recovers and rallies it. Duryodhana then accuses Bhishma of favouring the Pandavas, and Bhishma, laughing in anger, vows to hold back the Pandavas single-handed that day, as both sides sound their conches and drums.
