Bhishma Recites the Sages' Praise of Krishna

Bhishma recites to Duryodhana the ancient hymn in which Narada, Markandeya, Bhrigu, Dvaipayana, Angiras, Devala Asita and the yogis led by Sanatkumara praise Krishna as the God of gods, the eternal Person and the refuge of righteous kings. Duryodhana comes to honour Keshava and the Pandavas. Bhishma tells him that Krishna and Arjuna are Narayana and Nara, that the Pandavas cannot be slain, and urges him to make peace and share the earth with his brothers; then he dismisses him, and Duryodhana returns to his camp for the night.

Hear, O Bharata, the hymn to Krishna, filled with sacred truth, which the brahmin seers and the gods recited on earth long ago.
