Dhrishtadyumna Kills Drona
Satyaki is hemmed in by Duryodhana, Karna, Kripa and others until the Pandavas rally round him, and Yudhishthira sends the Srinjayas against Drona amid evil omens. Drona burns through the kshatriya ranks; Bhima lifts the chariotless Dhrishtadyumna into his own chariot and urges him on, then reproaches Drona for slaughtering as a brahmin. Drona lays down his weapons, enters yoga and rises to Brahma's world as a light, seen only by Sanjaya, Arjuna, Kripa, Krishna and Yudhishthira; Dhrishtadyumna cuts off his head despite Arjuna's cries, and the Kaurava army breaks and flees while Bhima and Dhrishtadyumna embrace.

anvicchantaḥ śarīraṃ tu bhāradvājasya pārthivāḥ | nānvagacchanmahārāja kabandhāyutasaṅkule
Seeking Bharadvaja's body, the kings, O great king, could not find it in that field crowded with ten thousand headless trunks.
Note on the text: CE 7.165.61 (lines a and c; the page has "नान्वगच्छन्महाराज" for the CE's "nādhyagacchaṃs tadā rājan", a variant, kept).
Verse 80 (7.193.80)
patite tvatha saṃrabdhe senāyāṃ tatra bhārata | udatiṣṭhankabandhānāṃ sahasrāṇyekaviṃśatiḥ
And when the furious army had fallen there, O Bharata, twenty-one thousand headless trunks rose up.
Note on the text: Corrected उदिष्ठन् → उदतिष्ठन् (misprint in Wikisource; the syllable त is dropped; CE udatiṣṭhann). Removed the wiki opening backtick (it opens a vulgate insertion closing at verse 81). Not in the critical edition's main text; the two lines are the CE star passage 7.165.61d*1340_01–02 (page "कबन्धानाम्" for the CE's "uruṇḍānām", a variant, kept).
Verse 81 (7.193.81)
śoṇitena pariklinnā raṇabhūmiśca bhārata | lohitārdra ivādityo durdarśaścābhavattadā
The battlefield, O Bharata, was soaked with blood, and the sun, as if wet with red, became hard to look upon then.
Note on the text: Removed the wiki closing apostrophe (it closes the backtick opened at verse 80). Not in the critical edition (found in the vulgate recension); the lines echo CE 7.165.53a and 53c (verse 70 above).
Verse 82 (7.193.82)
pāṇḍavāstu jayaṃ labdhvā paratra ca mahadyaśaḥ | bāṇaśaṅkharavāṃścakruḥ siṃhanādāṃśca puṣkalān
But the Pandavas, having won the victory and great glory in the hereafter, made the sound of arrows and conches and many lion-roars.
Note on the text: CE 7.165.62 (lines a and c; the page has "बाणशङ्खरवान्" for the CE's "bāṇaśabdaravān", a variant, kept).
Verse 83 (7.193.83)
bhīmasenastato rājandhṛṣṭadyumnaśca pārṣataḥ | varūthinyāmanṛtyetāṃ pariṣvajya parasparam
Then Bhimasena and Dhrishtadyumna Parshata, O king, embraced each other and danced in the army.
Verse 84 (7.193.84)
abravīcca tadā bhīmaḥ pārṣataṃ śatrutāpanam | bhūyo'haṃ tvāṃ pariṣvajya parivakṣyāmi pārṣata | sūtaputre hate pāpe dhārtarāṣṭre ca saṃyuge
And Bhima then said to Parshata, the scorcher of foes: "Once more, Parshata, I shall embrace you and address you, when the sinful son of the charioteer and Dhritarashtra's son are slain in the battle."
Note on the text: Lines are CE 7.165.64a, 64c (the page has "परिष्वज्य परिवक्ष्यामि" for the CE's "vijayinaṃ pariṣvakṣyāmi"; परिवक्ष्यामि is a valid form, so the printed reading is kept) and 64e. Line 1 is Sanjaya's narration and lines 2–3 are Bhima's words, so the verse stays with Sanjaya.
Verse 85 (7.193.85)
etāvaduktvā bhīmastu harṣeṇa mahatā yutaḥ | bāhuśabdena pṛthivīṃ kampayāmāsa pāṇḍavaḥ
Having said only this, Bhima, filled with great joy, shook the earth with the sound of his arms.
Verse 86 (7.193.86)
tasya śabdena vitrastāḥ prādravaṃstāvakā yudhi | kṣatradharmaṃ samutsṛjya palāyanaparāyaṇāḥ
Terrified by that sound, your men fled in the battle, abandoning the kshatriya's duty, intent only on flight.
Note on the text: CE 7.165.66 (lines a and c).
Verse 87 (7.193.87)
pāṇḍavāstu jayaṃ labdhvā hṛṣṭā hyāsanviśāmpate | arikṣayaṃ ca saṅgrāme tena te sukhamāpnuvan
And the Pandavas, having won the victory, were delighted, O lord of the people, and by the destruction of their enemies in the battle they gained happiness.
Note on the text: Corrected लब्धा हृष्टा → लब्ध्वा हृष्टा (misprint in Wikisource; the conjunct ध्व of the gerund is dropped; CE labdhvā). CE 7.165.67.
