Devasthana: All Wealth Belongs to Sacrifice
The ascetic Devasthana takes up Arjuna's claim that nothing is greater than wealth. He tells Yudhishthira that the earth has been won by dharma and should not be thrown away, that the fourfold ladder rests on Brahman, and that he should sacrifice with rich gifts. Wealth was created for sacrifice, he says, and he cites Indra, Mahadeva, Marutta and Harishchandra, who rose by sacrifice.
