Brahma and Rudra on the One Person

Janamejaya asks whether there are many Persons or one. Vaishampayana, after bowing to Vyasa, tells an old dialogue between Brahma and Shiva: Brahma is sitting alone on the golden mountain Vaijayanta in the Ocean of Milk when his son Rudra comes down from the sky. Rudra asks why Brahma has left his own abode and whom he contemplates here; Brahma answers that he will tell of the single support of the many Persons, into whom all enter once they are free of qualities.
