Kripa, Kritavarma and Ashvatthama Meet Dhritarashtra
A krosha out of the city, Dhritarashtra meets the three surviving warriors, Kripa, Kritavarma and Ashvatthama. They tell him his sons have died as heroes, and Kripa comforts Gandhari, confessing the night raid on the Pandava camp and warning that the Pandavas will come for revenge. They take their leave and part in three directions: Kripa to Hastinapura, Kritavarma to his own kingdom, Ashvatthama to Vyasa's hermitage.

Afterwards the great chariot-warriors, the sons of Pandu, came upon Drona's son and, putting forth their prowess, overcame him in battle, O king.
Note on the text: Removed the editorial square brackets (and the doubled danda) that Wikisource prints around this verse. Not in the main text of the critical edition; the same two lines occur there only as star passage *0033_01-02 (after 11.10.23d), with the reading vyajayanta for vyajayaṃs te. Wikisource prints the verse in square brackets.
