Kunti's Message to Her Sons; Krishna Departs
Kunti asks Krishna to remind Arjuna of the heavenly voice at his birth, which foretold that he would equal Indra, conquer the Kurus and win back his father's share; she sends word to Bhima, Draupadi and the sons of Madri, and says that what grieves her most is not the lost kingdom or the exile but the insults Draupadi heard in the assembly. Krishna salutes her and leaves, takes Karna up on his chariot and confers with him at length outside the city, then dismisses him and drives at speed to Upaplavya, while the Kurus marvel at him and foresee ruin from Duryodhana's folly.
