Bhishma Takes Command and Begins the Count of Chariot-Warriors

Dhritarashtra asks what his sons and Bhishma did after Arjuna's vow, and Sanjaya relates Bhishma's words. Bowing to Skanda, Bhishma accepts the command, declares his mastery of arrays and tells Duryodhana to put away his anxiety. Duryodhana, confident of victory with Bhishma and Drona, asks for the count of rathas and atirathas on both sides, and Bhishma begins with his own army: Duryodhana and his hundred brothers, Kritavarman, Shalya, Bhurishravas and Jayadratha. This opens the Rathatiratha-sankhyana Parva.
