Bhima Becomes Virata's Cook
Bhima comes to Virata's hall dressed as a cook, with swords at his side and ladles, a spit and condiments in hand, and his towering presence alarms the king and his court. Calling himself Balala, a shudra who once ran Yudhishthira's kitchen and a wrestler without equal, he asks to serve as cook. Virata, sure that such a man should command armies, offers him the command of his elephant force, but at last grants his wish and makes him head of the royal kitchen, where he lives unrecognised.
