Sudeshna Sends Draupadi to Kichaka

Rebuffed by Draupadi, who serves in disguise as the queen's sairandhri, Kichaka falls at his sister Sudeshna's feet and begs her to win the woman for him, or he will die. Sudeshna warns him that five Gandharvas guard her and that his lust will destroy the whole family, but out of love for her brother she agrees to a ruse: he is to prepare wine and food, and she will send the sairandhri to fetch the wine. Draupadi pleads not to be sent, but the angry queen forces a golden vessel on her, and Draupadi, weeping, calls on the truth of her fidelity to the five Pandavas to protect her.
