Virata Honours the Pandavas and Sends Word of Victory

Freed from captivity, Virata honours the disguised Pandavas, offering them his treasures, his daughters and lordship over the Matsyas; they answer that his release is reward enough. Virata offers to crown Kanka king and marvels at the deeds of Valala the cook, but Yudhishthira asks only that Virata go home to his family and let Susharma depart. At Kanka's suggestion Virata sends messengers ahead, and they travel through the night and proclaim his victory in the city at sunrise.
