The Gods Gather in the Sky to Watch the Battle

Indra takes all the gods aboard his palace Sudarshana and moves to where Arjuna is. The pillared hall in the sun's path, its parasols, garlands and fragrant breezes are described, and around it gather the gods, the lords of creatures and the seers, a long line of royal sages from Shveta and Nriga to Harishchandra, Bhagiratha and Pandu, and the apsarases, gandharvas, daityas, yakshas and serpents — all waiting in the sky to see one man fight many.
