Verse 81 (devibhagavatam.11.24.81)

a killer of a brahmin is released from sin — thus spoken by Kaushika. For twelve days, immersed in water, one should recite a thousand times each day,

Verse 84 (devibhagavatam.11.24.84)

mucyerannaṁhasaḥ sarve mahāpātakino dvijāḥ trisāhasraṁ japenmāsaṁ prāṇānāyamya vāgyataḥ

and all twice-born, even the great sinners, would be freed from their sins. Reciting three thousand times for a month, having restrained the breath and speech,

Verse 85 (devibhagavatam.11.24.85)

mahāpātakayukto vā mucyate mahato bhayāt prāṇāyāmasahasreṇa brahmahāpi viśudhyati

even one burdened with great sin is freed from great fear. By a thousand pranayamas, even a killer of a brahmin becomes fully purified.

Verse 86 (devibhagavatam.11.24.86)

One should practice, with a composed mind, the prana and apana six times in succession; this pranayama becomes the destroyer of all sin.

Verse 87 (devibhagavatam.11.24.87)

sahasramabhyasenmāsaṁ kṣitipaḥ śucitāmiyāt dvādaśāhaṁ trisāhasraṁ japeddhi govadhe dvijaḥ

Practicing a thousand times for a month, a king attains purity. In the case of the killing of a cow, one should recite three thousand times for twelve days;

Verse 88 (devibhagavatam.11.24.88)

agamyāgamanasteyahananābhakṣyabhakṣaṇe daśasāhasramabhyastā gāyatrī śodhayed dvijam

for illicit union, theft, killing, and eating of forbidden food, the Gayatri, practiced ten thousand times, purifies the twice-born.

Verse 89 (devibhagavatam.11.24.89)

sahasramabhyasenmāsaṁ nityajāpī vane vasan upavāsasamaṁ japyaṁ trisahasraṁ tadityṛcam

one should practice a thousand times for a month, reciting constantly while dwelling in the forest; equal to a fast is the recitation of the verse beginning 'tat...' three thousand times.

Verse 91 (devibhagavatam.11.24.91)

caturviṁśatisāhasramabhyastātkṛcchrasaṁjñitā catuḥṣaṣṭisahasrāṇi cāndrāyaṇasamāni tu

Twenty-four thousand recitations are equivalent to the kricchhra penance; and sixty-four thousand are equivalent to the chandrayana.

Verse 92 (devibhagavatam.11.24.92)

Reciting constantly while immersed in water, a hundred times, the verse beginning 'tat...,' meditating on the Goddess in the form of the sun, one is released from all sins.

Verse 94 (devibhagavatam.11.24.94)

iti te samyagākhyātāḥ śāntiśud hdhyādikalpanāḥ rahasyātirahasyāśca gopanīyāstvayā sadā

Thus have these procedures of pacification, purification, and the like been fully declared to you; they are secret, indeed most secret, and should always be kept concealed by you.

Verse 95 (devibhagavatam.11.24.95)

iti saṅkṣepataḥ proktaḥ sadācārasya saṅgrahaḥ vidhinā''caraṇādasya māyā durgā prasīdati

Thus has this compendium of right conduct been declared in brief. By properly performing it, Maya Durga is pleased.

Verse 96 (devibhagavatam.11.24.96)

naimittikaṁ ca nityaṁ ca kāmyaṁ karma yathāvidhi ācarenmanujaḥ so'yaṁ bhuktimuktiphalāptibhāk

Whoever performs, according to rule, the occasional, the daily, and the desire-motivated rites — such a person becomes a sharer in the fruits of enjoyment and liberation.

Verse 97 (devibhagavatam.11.24.97)

ācāraḥ prathamo dharmo dharmasya prabhurīśvarī ityuktaṁ sarvaśāstreṣu sadācāraphalaṁ mahat

Right conduct is the first dharma, and the Goddess is the sovereign lord of dharma — thus it is declared in all the scriptures; great is the fruit of right conduct.

Verse 98 (devibhagavatam.11.24.98)

ācāravānsadā pūtaḥ sadaivācāravānmasukhī ācāravānsadā dhanyaḥ satyaṁ satyaṁ ca nārada

One of good conduct is ever pure; one of good conduct is ever happy; one of good conduct is ever blessed — this is true, O Narada, truly true.

Verse 99 (devibhagavatam.11.24.99)

devīprasādajanakaṁ sadācāravidhānakam yadapi śṛṇuyānmartyo mahāsampattisaukhyabhāk

Even the mere hearing of this procedure of right conduct, which produces the grace of the Goddess, makes a mortal a sharer in great prosperity and happiness.

Verse 100 (devibhagavatam.11.24.100)

sadācāreṇa siddhecca aihikāmuṣmikaṁ sukham tadeva te mayā proktaṁ kimanyacchrotumicchasi

Through right conduct, happiness both in this world and the next is accomplished. That very thing has been declared to you by me — what else do you wish to hear?
