Hearing the words of that monkey king, the son of the Wind-god dispatched vanaras of great valour to every direction.

Shloka 17 (kishkindha.37.17)

By the seas, on the mountains, in the forests and by the lakes, those vanaras roused all the other vanaras onward, for Rama's sake.

Shloka 19 (kishkindha.37.19)

mṛtyukālopamasyājñāṃ rājarājasya vānarāḥ | sugrīvasyāyayuḥ śrutvā sugrīvabhayaśaṅkitāḥ || 37.19 ||

The vanaras, apprehensive with fear of Sugreeva, arrived on hearing the command of that overlord — a command dreadful as the hour of death.

Shloka 20 (kishkindha.37.20)

Then, of those dark as Mount Anjana and swift of great speed, three crores of monkeys set out from that very mountain to where Raghava was.

Shloka 21 (kishkindha.37.21)

astaṃ gacchati yatrārkastasmin girivare ratāḥ | saṃtaptahemavarṇābhāstasmāt koṭyo daśa cyutāḥ || 37.21 ||

From the excellent mountain where the sun sets, ten crores of monkeys, radiant as molten gold, dwelling there, came down.

Shloka 22 (kishkindha.37.22)

kailāsaśikharebhyaśca siṃhakesaravarcasām | tataḥ koṭisahasrāṇi vānarāṇāṃ samāgaman || 37.22 ||

Then, from the peaks of Kailasa, a thousand crores of vanaras, splendid as a lion's mane, gathered there.

Shloka 23 (kishkindha.37.23)

Of those who live on fruit and roots and dwell on the Himalaya, a further thousand of their thousands of crores gathered there.

Shloka 24 (kishkindha.37.24)

Of those terrible ones, of terrible deeds, resembling live embers, thousands of crores swiftly came down from the Vindhya.

Shloka 25 (kishkindha.37.25)

kṣīrodavelānilayāstamālavanavāsinaḥ | nārikelāśanāścaiva teṣāṃ saṃkhyā na vidyate || 37.25 ||

Of those who dwell by the shore of the Sea of Milk, in the tamala forests, feeding on coconuts, the number cannot even be told.

Shloka 26 (kishkindha.37.26)

vanebhyo gahvarebhyaśca saridbhyaśca mahābalāḥ | āgacchad vānarī senā pibantīva divākaram || 37.26 ||

Coming from forests, from caverns, and from rivers, that mighty army of vanaras seemed, in its vastness, as if it would drink up the sun itself.

Shloka 27 (kishkindha.37.27)

ye tu tvarayituṃ yātā vānarāḥ sarvavānarān | te vīrā himavacchaile dadṛśustaṃ mahādrumam || 37.27 ||

Those vanaras who had gone to hasten the rest, those heroes, beheld upon the Himalayan mountain that great tree.

Shloka 28 (kishkindha.37.28)

tasmin girivare puṇye yajño māheśvaraḥ purā | sarvadevamanastoṣo babhūva sumanoramaḥ || 37.28 ||

On that holy and excellent mountain, in ancient times, Lord Maheshvara had performed a sacrifice, most delightful, that had gladdened the hearts of all the gods.

Shloka 29 (kishkindha.37.29)

annanisyandajātāni mūlāni ca phalāni ca | amṛtasvādukalpāni dadṛśustatra vānarāḥ || 37.29 ||

There the vanaras beheld roots and fruits, born of the residue of that sacrificial food, sweet as ambrosia.

Shloka 30 (kishkindha.37.30)

tadannasambhavaṃ divyaṃ phalamūlaṃ manoharam | yaḥ kaścit sakṛdaśnāti māsaṃ bhavati tarpitaḥ || 37.30 ||

That divine and lovely fruit and root, born of that sacrificial offering — whoever eats it even once remains sated for a month.

Shloka 31 (kishkindha.37.31)

tāni mūlāni divyāni phalāni ca phalāśanāḥ | auṣadhāni ca divyāni jagṛhurharipuṃgavāḥ || 37.31 ||

Those fruit-eating bulls among monkeys gathered up those divine roots and fruits, and the divine herbs as well.

Shloka 32 (kishkindha.37.32)

tasmācca yajñāyatanāt puṣpāṇi surabhīṇi ca | āninyurvānarā gatvā sugrīvapriyakāraṇāt || 37.32 ||

And from that sacrificial ground, the vanaras went and gathered fragrant flowers too, to please Sugreeva.

Shloka 33 (kishkindha.37.33)

te tu sarve harivarāḥ pṛthivyāṃ sarvavānarān | saṃcodayitvā tvaritaṃ yūthānāṃ jagmuragrataḥ || 37.33 ||

Then all those foremost of monkeys, having roused every vanara across the earth, went on ahead of their several hosts.

Shloka 34 (kishkindha.37.34)

te tu tena muhūrtena kapayaḥ śīghracāriṇaḥ | kiṣkindhāṃ tvarayā prāptāḥ sugrīvo yatra vānaraḥ || 37.34 ||

Within that very hour those swift-moving monkeys reached Kishkindha, to where the monkey Sugreeva was.

Shloka 35 (kishkindha.37.35)

te gṛhītvauṣadhīḥ sarvāḥ phalamūlaṃ ca vānarāḥ | taṃ pratigrāhayāmāsurvacanaṃ cedamabruvan || 37.35 ||

Those vanaras, having taken all the herbs, fruits and roots, presented them to him and spoke these words:

Shloka 36 (kishkindha.37.36)

sarve parisṛtāḥ śailāḥ saritaśca vanāni ca | pṛthivyāṃ vānarāḥ sarve śāsanādupayānti te || 37.36 ||

"All the vanaras who had ranged over every mountain, river and forest of the whole earth are now coming, in accordance with your command."

Shloka 37 (kishkindha.37.37)

evaṃ śrutvā tato hṛṣṭaḥ sugrīvaḥ plavagādhipaḥ | pratijagrāha ca prītasteṣāṃ sarvamupāyanam || 37.37 ||

Hearing this, Sugreeva, lord of the vanaras, was delighted, and joyfully accepted the whole of their offering.
