To Saumitri, speaking thus, sorrowfully, tears falling as he spoke, Hanuman, skilled in speech, gave this reply:

Shloka 26 (kishkindha.4.26)

'It is by good fortune indeed that such wise ones, who have conquered anger and mastered their senses, are worthy to be seen by the lord of the monkeys, and have now come within his sight.'

'For he too has been cast out of his kingdom, and set at enmity with Vali; his wife too was taken from him, and he lives in the forest in fear, cruelly wronged by his own brother.'

Shloka 28 (kishkindha.4.28)

kariṣyati sa sāhāyyaṃ yuvayorbhāskarātmajaḥ | sugrīvaḥ saha cāsmābhiḥ sītāyāḥ parimārgaṇe || 4.28 ||

'He, the son of the Sun-god, Sugriva, together with all of us, will surely render you both help in the search for Sita.'

Shloka 29 (kishkindha.4.29)

ityevamuktvā hanumān ślakṣṇaṃ madhurayā girā | babhāṣe sādhu gacchāmaḥ sugrīvamiti rāghavam || 4.29 ||

Having spoken thus, Hanuman, in a soft and sweet voice, said further to Raghava: 'Come, let us go now to Sugriva.'

Shloka 30 (kishkindha.4.30)

evaṃ bruvantaṃ dharmātmā hanūmantaṃ sa lakṣmaṇaḥ | pratipūjya yathānyāyamidaṃ provāca rāghavam || 4.30 ||

Then that righteous Lakshmana, duly honouring Hanuman who had spoken so, said this to Raghava:

Shloka 31 (kishkindha.4.31)

kapiḥ kathayate hṛṣṭo yathāyaṃ mārutātmajaḥ | kṛtyavān so'pi samprāptaḥ kṛtakṛtyo'si rāghava || 4.31 ||

'As this monkey, son of the Wind-god, speaks with such evident joy, our task already seems fulfilled; O Raghava, you may count your purpose as good as accomplished.'

Shloka 32 (kishkindha.4.32)

prasannamukhavarṇaśca vyaktaṃ hṛṣṭaśca bhāṣate | nānṛtaṃ vakṣyate vīro hanūmān mārutātmajaḥ || 4.32 ||

'His countenance is bright and clear, and he speaks with plain and evident joy; this hero Hanuman, son of the Wind-god, will surely not speak falsely.'

Shloka 33 (kishkindha.4.33)

tataḥ sa sumahāprājño hanūmān mārutātmajaḥ | jagāmādāya tau vīrau harirājāya rāghavau || 4.33 ||

Then that most wise Hanuman, son of the Wind-god, took the two heroic Raghavas along and set out toward the king of monkeys.

Shloka 34 (kishkindha.4.34)

bhikṣurūpaṃ parityajya vānaraṃ rūpamāsthitaḥ | pṛṣṭhamāropya tau vīrau jagāma kapikuñjaraḥ || 4.34 ||

Giving up his mendicant's guise and resuming his own monkey form, that elephant among monkeys, lifting the two heroes onto his back, set forth.

Shloka 35 (kishkindha.4.35)

sa tu vipulayaśāḥ kapipravīraḥ pavanasutaḥ kṛtakṛtyavat prahṛṣṭaḥ | girivaramuruvikramaḥ prayātaḥ sa śubhamatiḥ saha rāmalakṣmaṇābhyām || 4.35 ||

That monkey of vast renown, foremost among monkeys, son of the Wind-god, of immense prowess and virtuous mind, delighted as though his purpose were already fulfilled, set out toward the great mountain, together with Rama and Lakshmana.
