Margabandhu Stotram

bhālāvanamratkirīṭaṃ bhālanetrārciṣā dagdhapañceṣukīṭam | śūlāhatārātikūṭaṃ śuddhamardhenducūḍaṃ bhaje mārgabandhum ||1||

मैं मार्गबंधु का भजन करता हूँ, जिनका मुकुट भाल पर झुका है, जिन्होंने भाल-नेत्र की ज्वाला से पंचबाण काम को भस्म किया; जो शूल से शत्रुओं के पर्वत-दुर्गों को नष्ट करते हैं, शुद्ध, अर्धचंद्र से मंडित।

I worship Margabandhu, whose crown bows low upon his brow, who burned Kama, the five-arrowed one, with the flame of his forehead eye; who shatters the mountain-strongholds of his enemies with his trident, pure, crowned with the crescent moon.

aṅge virājadbhujaṅgaṃ abhragaṅgātaraṅgābhirāmottamāṅgam | oṃkāravāṭīkuraṅgaṃ siddhasaṃsevitāṅghriṃ bhaje mārgabandhum ||2||

मैं मार्गबंधु का भजन करता हूँ, जिनके अंग पर सर्प सुशोभित है, जिनका उत्तमांग आकाश-गंगा की तरंगों से अभिराम है; जो ओंकार-वाटिका में मृग के समान विचरते हैं, जिनके चरण सिद्धों द्वारा सेवित हैं।

I worship Margabandhu, on whose body a serpent gleams, whose glorious head is graced by the waves of the celestial Ganga; who roams like a deer within the garden of the syllable Om, whose feet are served by perfected sages.

nityaṃ cidānandarūpaṃ nihnutāśeṣalokeśavairipratāpam | kārtasvarāgendracāpaṃ kṛttivāsaṃ bhaje divyasanmārgabandhum ||3||

मैं दिव्य सन्मार्गबंधु का भजन करता हूँ, जो नित्य चिदानंदरूप हैं, जिनका प्रताप समस्त लोकेशों के शत्रुओं का दर्प निह्नुत करता है; जो मेरु के समान स्वर्ण-धनुष धारण करते हैं, गजचर्म वस्त्रधारी।

I worship the divine, true Margabandhu, ever of the nature of consciousness and bliss, whose power humbles the pride of the foes of every world's ruler; who bears a bow of gold like the mountain-king Meru, clad in an elephant's hide.

kandarpadarpaghnamīśaṃ kālakaṇṭhaṃ maheśaṃ mahāvyomakeśam | kundābhadantaṃ sureśaṃ koṭisūryaprakāśaṃ bhaje mārgabandhum ||4||

मैं मार्गबंधु का भजन करता हूँ, जो कंदर्प के दर्प का नाश करने वाले ईश हैं, कालकंठ महेश, जिनकी जटाएँ महाव्योम-सी विस्तृत हैं; कुंद-सम श्वेत दंत वाले, सुरेश, कोटि सूर्यों के समान प्रकाशमान।

I worship Margabandhu, the Lord who crushed the pride of Kandarpa, the dark-throated Maheshwara whose matted locks are as vast as the sky; whose teeth gleam like the jasmine flower, lord of the gods, radiant as a million suns.

mandārabhūterudāraṃ mandarāgendrasāraṃ mahāgauryadūram | sindūradūrapracāraṃ sindhurājātidhīraṃ bhaje mārgabandhum ||5||

मैं मार्गबंधु का भजन करता हूँ, जो मंदार वृक्ष के समान उदार हैं, मंदराचल के समान सारभूत, महागौरी से भी संपन्न किंतु अनासक्त; जिनकी कीर्ति सिंदूर के समान दूर तक फैली है, सिंधुराज से भी अधिक धीर।

I worship Margabandhu, generous as the wish-fulfilling Mandara tree, unshakeable as Mount Mandara, far removed from attachment though possessed of great glory; whose fame spreads as far as the red glow of vermilion, and who is more steadfast than the ocean's own king.

appayyayajjvendra gītaṃ stotrarājaṃ paṭhedyastu bhaktyā prayāṇe | tasyārthasiddhiṃ vidhatte mārgamadhye'bhayaṃ cāśutoṣo maheśaḥ ||6||

जो भक्तिपूर्वक प्रयाण के समय अप्पय्य दीक्षितेन्द्र द्वारा गाए गए इस स्तोत्रराज का पाठ करता है, उसे शीघ्र प्रसन्न होने वाले महेश मार्ग में अर्थसिद्धि और अभय प्रदान करते हैं।

Whoever recites with devotion, before setting out on a journey, this king of hymns sung by Appayya Dikshitendra, to him the easily-pleased Maheshwara grants the fulfillment of his purpose and fearlessness along the way.
