Ramastakam

॥1॥ bhaje viśeṣasundaraṃ samastapāpakhaṇḍanam। svabhaktacittarañjanaṃ sadaiva rāmacandrakam॥

मैं उन रामचन्द्र की वन्दना करता हूँ जो अत्यंत अनुपम सुंदर हैं और जो अपने शरणागतों के समस्त पापों का नाश करते हैं। वे सदा अपने भक्तों के हृदय को आनन्दित एवं प्रफुल्लित करते रहते हैं।

I worship Ramachandra, who is supremely and uniquely beautiful, who destroys all accumulated sins of those who take refuge in Him. He is the one who perpetually delights and gladdens the hearts of His devoted devotees.

॥2॥ bhaje sadā sajānakiṃ surendravandataṃ vibhum। carācaraikanāyakaṃ śriye sadā raghūdvaham॥

मैं सदा उन सर्वव्यापी प्रभु राम की भक्ति करता हूँ जो सदा जानकी के साथ विराजते हैं, जिनकी देवराज इन्द्र भी वन्दना करते हैं। वे समस्त चराचर जगत के एकमात्र स्वामी और रक्षक हैं — रघुकुल के वे श्रेष्ठ सदा हमें मंगल और समृद्धि प्रदान करें।

I ever worship the all-pervading Lord Rama, who is always accompanied by Janaki (Sita), who is adored even by the king of the gods, and who is the sole master and protector of all moving and unmoving creation. May the exalted scion of the Raghu dynasty always grant us auspiciousness and prosperity.

॥3॥ bhaje viśuddhabodhakaṃ paraṃ parātparaṃ harim। harantameva tāpakaṃ sureśvaraṃ natāśrayam॥

मैं उन हरि (राम) की भक्ति करता हूँ जो शुद्ध ज्ञान के जागरणकर्ता हैं, जो परम और परात्पर हैं, और जो हमारे समस्त तापों को दूर करते हैं। वे देवताओं के भी स्वामी हैं और जो उनके सामने नम्रतापूर्वक झुकते हैं, उन सबके परम आश्रय हैं।

I worship Hari (Rama), who is the awakener of pure and untainted knowledge, who is supreme and transcends even the beyond, and who indeed removes all afflictions and threefold sufferings. He is the lord of the gods and the ultimate refuge for all those who humbly bow before Him.

॥4॥ bhaje bhavābdhitārakaṃ raṇe raṇe jayapradam। munīndrasevitaṃ vibhuṃ manoramaṃ raghūdvaham॥

मैं रघुवंश के उस महान विभु की भक्ति करता हूँ जो हमें संसार-सागर से पार ले जाते हैं और प्रत्येक युद्ध एवं कठिनाई में विजय प्रदान करते हैं। जो महामुनियों द्वारा भी सेवित हैं और जो अपने दर्शनमात्र से मन को मोह लेते हैं।

I worship the great scion of the Raghu dynasty, who carries us across the boundless ocean of worldly existence, who bestows victory in every battle and every trial, and who is worshipped and served by the greatest of sages. He is all-pervading and enchantingly captivates the mind of all who behold Him.

॥5॥ bhaje daśānanāntakaṃ svabhaktapuñjapālakam। nijātmakaṃ nirāmayaṃ parātmakaṃ paraṃtapam॥

मैं उन राम की भक्ति करता हूँ जिन्होंने दशमुख रावण का संहार किया और जो अपने समस्त भक्तों की रक्षा और पालना करते हैं। वे सभी प्राणियों के अन्तरात्मा हैं, निर्दोष और परम शुद्ध — वे परमात्मा स्वरूप और अधर्म के दाहक हैं।

I worship Rama, the destroyer of the ten-headed Ravana and the nourishing protector of the entire host of His devoted devotees. He is the very inner Self of all beings, flawless and free from all imperfection, the Supreme Self and the one who scorches all that is inimical to righteousness.

॥6॥ bhaje sadā sacāpiṇaṃ saśaktikaṃ sakuṇḍalam। sapadmapatralocalnaṃ saharṣamindirāpatim॥

मैं सदा उन इन्दिरापति (श्री राम) की भक्ति करता हूँ जो अपना दिव्य धनुष धारण किए, परम शक्तिशाली, कुण्डल-सुशोभित और कमल की पंखुड़ियों जैसे नेत्रों वाले हैं। उनका सम्पूर्ण स्वरूप आनन्द और दिव्य तेज से परिपूर्ण है।

I always worship Lord Rama, the lord of Indira (Lakshmi), who bears His magnificent bow and is endowed with supreme divine power, adorned with beautiful earrings, whose lotus-petal eyes radiate divine grace, and whose entire being overflows with joy and bliss.

॥7॥ bhaje sadā sahānujaṃ salakṣmaṇaṃ sahānumatam। natākhileṣṭadāyakaṃ kṛpālayaṃ raghūdvaham॥

मैं सदा उन रघुकुलभूषण राम की भक्ति करता हूँ जो सदा लक्ष्मण और हनुमान से घिरे रहते हैं, जो अपने सामने नम्रतापूर्वक झुकने वाले भक्तों की समस्त मनोकामनाएँ पूर्ण करते हैं और स्वयं करुणा के परम आगार हैं।

I always worship the great Rama of the Raghu lineage, who is ever surrounded by His younger brother Lakshmana and the devoted Hanuman, who grants all desired blessings to those who humbly bow before Him, and who is Himself the very abode and embodiment of compassion.

॥8॥ idaṃ rāmāṣṭakaṃ puṇyaṃ prātaḥkāle paṭhedyadi। sarvapāpavinirmuktaḥ paraṃ brahma sa gacchati॥

जो भी इस पुण्यमय रामाष्टकम् का प्रतिदिन प्रातःकाल पाठ करता है, वह समस्त पापों से पूर्णतः मुक्त हो जाता है और अंत में परम ब्रह्म को प्राप्त होता है। यह इस पावन स्तोत्र के फल की घोषणा है।

Whoever recites this sacred and meritorious Ramaashtakam in the early morning hours will be completely liberated from all sins and will ultimately attain the Supreme Brahman. This is the solemn promise of the fruit of this blessed prayer.
