देवी द्वारा ब्रह्माण्ड को वहन करने की छवि केवल रूपकात्मक नहीं है - यह इस बात का सटीक वर्णन है कि भक्त गहरी प्रार्थना में भार के समर्पण का अनुभव कैसे करते हैं। जो माँ एक कठिन पारिवारिक स्थिति में अन्ततः मन्दिर में 'इसे देवी को दे देती है' - पलायन के रूप में नहीं बल्कि यह पहचान के रूप में कि एक बड़ी बुद्धि स्थिति को वहन कर रही है - वह विश्वम्भरा के सिद्धान्त के साथ जुड़ रही है।

Viśvambharā also appears in the Lalita Sahasranama, connecting Durga and Lalita as expressions of the same all-bearing divine feminine.
