तुरीयात्मकः

He whose nature is the fourth, the transcendent awareness that underlies and witnesses the three ordinary states of waking, dreaming, and deep sleep

तुरीयात्मक, जिनकी प्रकृति चतुर्थ है, वह अतिक्रामी जागरूकता जो जागरण, स्वप्न और गहरी नींद की तीन सामान्य अवस्थाओं को अन्तर्निहित करती और साक्षी है

माण्डूक्य उपनिषद् का चतुर्थ तुरीय तीनों के साथ-साथ कोई अवस्था नहीं बल्कि वह जागरूकता है जो तीनों को साक्षी करती है। तुरीयात्मक के रूप में अय्यप्पा वह प्रभु हैं जिनकी प्रकृति इस चतुर्थ अवस्था से बनी है।
