तीन गुणों का आश्रय - जो प्रकृति के तीनों गुणों की अन्तर्निहित आधारशिला हैं, उनमें से कोई एक नहीं बल्कि वह भूमि जिससे वे सभी उत्पन्न होते हैं और जिसमें लौटते हैं

यह समझ कि चेतना तीन गुणों में से एक नहीं बल्कि उनकी अन्तर्निहित भूमि है, सांख्य के पुरुष और प्रकृति के बीच मुख्य भेद है। शाक्त विस्तार देवी को यह भूमि बनाता है। आधुनिक तन्त्रिका-विज्ञान की 'चेतना के तन्त्रिका सहसम्बन्ध' की खोज दार्शनिक रूप से त्रिगुणाश्रया की खोज है।

This name deepens Triguṇātmikā of the previous batch: first she is the three guṇas, then she is their refuge.
