धैर्य और दृढ़ता की देवी - जो कठिनाई में भी टिके रहने के उस गुण का स्वरूप हैं जो दबाव में भी नहीं टूटता

वर्षों तक बिना राहत के किसी बीमार परिजन की देखभाल करना, लगातार तीन कठिन सत्रों में छोटे व्यवसाय को चलाते रहना, साथी की मृत्यु के बाद अकेले बच्चों को पालना - ये सब धृति के कार्य हैं। देवी यह नहीं कहतीं कि कठिनाई जल्द समाप्त होगी। वे कुछ अधिक उपयोगी कहती हैं: तुम उसके पहले नहीं टूटोगे। यह शान्त, बिना प्रदर्शन का साहस भारत में सबसे सामान्य वीरता है।
