651-652 पर आत्मविद्या-महाविद्या अनुक्रम वेदान्त के मुक्तिदायी पथ का सहस्रनाम का सबसे संक्षिप्त कथन है। जिस साधक ने वास्तव में आत्म-विचार में प्रवेश किया है उसे महाविद्या की खोज नहीं करनी है - यह सच्चे आत्म-जानने के गन्तव्य के रूप में स्वाभाविक रूप से आती है।

ॐMahāvidyā appears for the third time (489, 529, 652) in a sequence with Ātmavidyā: the self-knowledge that liberates leads directly to the supreme knowledge. Together they form the knowledge-liberation path: know the self (Ātmavidyā) and arrive at what the self knows itself to be (Mahāvidyā).
