तीक्ष्णदंष्ट्रः

Sharp-fanged, whose fierce teeth are the instruments of the cosmic devouring that reduces all appearance back to its ground at the moment of dissolution

तीक्ष्ण दाँतों वाले, जिनके भयंकर दाँत उस ब्रह्माण्डीय ग्रास के उपकरण हैं जो विघटन के क्षण पर सभी अभिव्यक्ति को उसके मूल में वापस लौटाते हैं

तीक्ष्णदंष्ट्र (तीखे दाँतों वाले) शिव के उग्र प्रतिमा-चित्र से सम्बन्धित है। भैरव परंपरा में शिव के भयंकर पहलू को विशेष रूप से मन के गहरे टालने , अनित्यता, मृत्यु और विघटन को सीधे देखने से इनकार , को काटने के लिए आह्वान किया जाता है। वाराणसी के मणिकर्णिका घाट की चौबीसों घंटे जलती चिताएँ इस सत्य को पूर्ण सीधेपन के साथ मूर्त रूप देती हैं।
