Remover of the greatest sins, who dissolves the most serious pāpas (moral wrongs, the most severe karmic burdensomeness) , the divine whose purifying grace reaches even the most profound moral and karmic difficulties

सबसे बड़े पापों के हरने वाले, जो सबसे गंभीर पापों (नैतिक गलतियाँ, सबसे गंभीर कार्मिक बोझ) को विलीन करते हैं , वह दिव्य जिनकी शुद्धिकारक कृपा सबसे गहरी नैतिक और कार्मिक कठिनाइयों तक पहुँचती है

महापापहर (सबसे बड़े पापों के हरने वाले) शिव को सबसे गंभीर पापों के हरने वाले के रूप में नामित करता है। भारतीय परंपरा में, कुछ पाप महापाप माने जाते हैं: ब्रह्महत्या, सुरापान, स्तेय, गुर्वंगना-गमन , एक साथ पंच-महापाप। शिव महापापहर के रूप में सच्ची भक्ति, काशी की तीर्थयात्रा और महामृत्युंजय मंत्र की कृपा के माध्यम से इन सबसे गंभीर पापों को विलीन करते हैं।
