Sri Rudram — Namakam

namaste rudra manyava utota iṣave namaḥ | namaste astu dhanvane bāhubhyāmuta te namaḥ ||1||

हे रुद्र, आपके मन्यु/उग्र तेज और आपके बाण को नमस्कार। आपके धनुष और बलशाली भुजाओं को भी नमस्कार।

Salutations to Your fierce power, O Rudra, and to Your arrow. Salutations to Your bow and to Your mighty arms.

yā te rudra śivā tanūraghorā apāpakāśinī | tayā nastanuvā śantamayā giriśantābhicākaśīhi ||2||

हे रुद्र, हे गिरिशन्त, अपनी शुभ, अघोर, पाप-नाशिनी और शांतमयी तनु से हमें प्रकाशित करें।

O Rudra, reveal to us Your auspicious, non-terrifying, sin-dispelling and peaceful form, O Lord of the mountains.

yāmiṣuṃ giriśanta haste bibharṣyastave | śivāṃ giritra tāṃ kuru mā hiṃsīḥ puruṣaṃ jagat ||3||

हे गिरिशन्त, आपके हाथ में जो बाण है, उसे शुभ बनाइए। पुरुष और जगत् को हिंसा न पहुँचे।

O Lord of the mountains, make the arrow You hold in Your hand auspicious. Do not harm the person or the world.

śivena vacasā tvā giriśācchā vadāmasi | yathā naḥ sarvamijjagadayakṣmaṃ sumanā asat ||4||

हे गिरिश, हम आपको शुभ वाणी से संबोधित करते हैं, ताकि हमारा संपूर्ण जगत् रोगरहित और सुमनस्क हो।

O Lord of the mountains, we address You with auspicious speech so that our whole world may be free from disease and filled with goodwill.

adhyavocadadhivaktā prathamo daivyo bhiṣak | ahīṃśca sarvāñjambhayantsarvāśca yātudhānyaḥ ||5||

प्रथम दिव्य वैद्य हमारे लिए बोलते हैं। वे सभी सर्परूप बाधाओं और दुष्ट शक्तियों को शांत करें।

The first divine healer speaks for us. May He subdue all serpentine harms and all destructive forces.

asau yastāmro aruṇa uta babhruḥ sumaṅgalaḥ | ye cemāṃ rudrā abhito dikṣu śritāḥ sahasraśo'vaiṣāṃ heḍa īmahe ||6||

वे रुद्र ताम्र, अरुण, बभ्रु और सुमंगल हैं। सभी दिशाओं में स्थित असंख्य रुद्रों की कृपा हम माँगते हैं।

That Rudra who is coppery, reddish, tawny and auspicious is seen everywhere. We seek the grace of the countless Rudras dwelling in all directions.
